Low Impact Pool Design
A small pool and garden created in the shade of several mature Pohutukawa trees. The design treads lightly on the land via a minimal construction footprint and sympathetic techniques specifically tailored to the situation. Plants and materials are thoughtfully selected to reflect something of Auckland’s volcanic and coastal environment. Areas are also created for productive gardening and a fun children’s garden.

Sustainable hardwood used to create oversized floating steps to pool area. These visually link to cantilevered seat fixed to New Zealand Bluestone wall.

Stone from existing retaining walls, which had failed over time, was re-used and formatted into lawn edging and paved access through garden.
